Being a Christian gives me hope, purpose and strength for my life. It gives me hope – an eternal hope of life beyond the grave because of Jesus, but also hope for today in reassuring me nothing can separate me from God’s love. The Christian faith gives me purpose in knowing that I don’t just exist for my own purpose, but for something bigger – an eternal purpose and significance in participating in God’s plan for the world. Being a Christian also gives me inner strength to persevere through all of life’s challenges, as well as a strength from tapping into his presence and joy.
My wife and I love being part of Gawler Lutheran Church as it not only gives us a place to belong but a community where we experience God’s care and love in personal ways. It also provides us with a place of purpose where we can make a difference in people’s lives through the gifts that God has given to us.

Favourite Bible text: I like the parable of the rich fool.
I was born in Gawler and grew up on a small farm between Gawler and Mallala and so being a part of our local congregation and school is immeasurably important to me – our kids have grown up and left home and so Susanne and I have an even deeper appreciation of the importance of having a local spiritual family.
The Lutheran Church in Gawler has a very long and proud history but I believe that the best is yet to come.
