Our congregation wants to be loving, relevant and connected
Who we are
The Lutheran Church has had a strong presence in the Gawler community for a very long time. While how and where we worship has evolved and changed, God’s love for us and our desire for others to know him has remained the same – and it always will.
For many years, Gawler was home to two congregations – Immanuel and Zion. In recent years, however, the two amalgamated to form Gawler Lutheran Church. While we currently worship across two worship centres, we are one congregation, with one purpose and mission.
Our congregation wants to be loving, relevant and connected. While we certainly haven’t perfected this, we hope that you might see evidence of this through:
- the strong connection our congregation has with Immanuel Lutheran School as well as Zion Preschool – both situated in the heart of Gawler
- our weekly worship services that cater for a diversity of styles
- sharing the good news of Jesus to our young people through junior youth
- nurturing our relationships with one another through small groups and fellowship events
- the regular visits we make to Gawler’s aged-care facilities
- our connections with Lutheran Care who run financial counselling and their foster care team within our offices
- training opportunities for members to become more equipped in caring for and sharing the good news with others
- the networking of Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS)
- simple acts such as waving, smiling, acknowledging birthdays, cooking meals, asking how each other is going and looking out for those who may need some extra love.
